ELIS KAUPPI VTG KUPITTAAN KULTA KINETIC CHALCEDONY STERLING SILVER RING FINLAND For Sale

Absolutely charming vintage kinetic modernist chalcedony sterling silver ring by Elis Kauppi, founder of the Kupittaan Kulta studios in Finland. The gorgeous polished chalcedony orb has a fantastic movement! This ring was not produced for export; it was sold domestically in Finland. The markings are curious and I don\'t know what all of them mean. Theyinclude the Kulta anvil hallmark, 925 for sterling silver, and then S IB. This doesn\'t correlate with the typical date code system used by Finland. I suspect the \"IB\" may be the designer\'s initials, and even though there\'s a box around the 925, perhaps the \"s\" is meant to indicate silver in conjunction with the 925. Dunno.

Anyway, the ring\'s in gorgeous all original condition with a deep patina. All cleaning is left to the winner. Size 7. Band is approx. 5mm wide. I\'ve come across many Kulta pieces over the years, but I\'ve never seen this design before, so I have to assume it\'s rare.
