EXCELLENT ANTIQUE CHINESE CARVED CARNELIAN AGATE DOUBLE GOURD VASE W WOOD STAND For Sale

For sale we have here a good antique Chinesecarnelianagate carving in the shape of a double gourd hollowed vase along with a nicely worked hardwood stand and was produced in China during the mid c1900s for export. This agate carving depicts a double gourd withtrailingvines, leaves, flowers and small young gourds attached to the vine which has good back and under carving even showing a bat with outstretched wings on one of the leaves. The agate stone has wonderful coloring of tans, orange and reddish brown with a blueish/white band running through on a angle with many areas showing good translucency. The vase has a fine surface polish and is hollowed in the center with the bottom having just a small flat area so it is always best to use the putty to the underside and on the stand to keep it from moving about as this has good weight. Condition is excellent with a small chip on the mouth rim and one or possibly two chips to the very tiny leaves on the young round bud sticking out otherwise excellent.
