Wonderful, I believe Apache, Native American basket or tray. Gorgeous, warm, golden brown patina with black geometric step pattern design. The weave is extraordinarily tight. It's condition is quite amazing considering how long it has been around. There are a few small incremental losses on the bottom. The are quite superficial and have absolutely no bearing on the integrity of the basket, which is as sound as when first made. She's just under 18" in diameter, and about 4 1/2" tall. There is on tiny 4.5 mm hole just under the top rim, I believe intentionally made, to use for hanging the basket. It is very innocuous and not readily noticeable. Minuscule considering the large size of the basket. A wonderful addition to the studious collector of Native American artifacts. 98% plus intact, well detailed, with little to no loss or much fading if any. Globe is approximately 4 1/2" in diameter. Shade rest opening is 2 3/4." I have a matched pair which would look phenomenal displayed on miniature, and side by side.
