Pigeon Holes

This charming set of desk top "Telegrams" pigeon holes are in "as found" condition and has not been repaired or restored by us and is a rare find.

The pigeon holes are constructed of solid oak with brass detailing.

The cabinet consists of five pigeon holes, two are a little deeper than the others, it appears that the back may have been replaced at some point, but the dividers are sturdy and well attached. The replacement back may require an additional nail or two in the future but it is strongly attached at present.

The cabinet has a small draw at the front with space for a pen and the the telegram paper, this does slide in and out ok, but is a bit "sticky" and would benefit from a little attention. There also appears to be two small blocks of oak missing either side of the drawer.

This little cabinet was not designed to be a "fine quality" piece of furniture, but waspractical and to be used. Hence, there are marks, scratches and scuffs you would expect from a well used item.

But this lovely cabinet has gained a super depth of colour and patina that only comes with age and use, and would look great on any desk at home or in the office.

It measures 31 cm (12 1/4 inches) longand is 22 cm (8 3/4 inches) deep.It is 28 cm (11 inches) high.
