ROSE STYLE FEDERAL SWORD SABER HANGER
Good Condition
An scarce and desirable sword , apparently unmarked though probably made by William Rose of Philadelphia. Hilt is similar to Rose type II 1807 cavalry contract, and the use of ebony was common for Rose. Iron mounted with a single narrow fuller blade 26 1/2 inches long and an ebony grip with copper twist wire, 31 inches overall. probably for a foot officer or artillery. This sword is is excellent condition with slight movement to the hilt, otherwise fine. Forging lines on blade C1800-1810. A nice addition to a collection of early american swords. See images.
