GORGEOUS 1945 IDEAL BABY BEAUTIFUL, A/O INC. CLOTHING AND TAG, MUST SEE:
$100.99

Offered for sale is this darling, all original Ideal Baby Beautiful. According to my research, this doll was made from 1945-1947 by the Ideal Toy Company.

This little cutie is so crisp and original, it's hard to believe that she is actually this old! Her composition is very clean and shows no signs of crazing. She has a composition head, lower arms and lower legs. Her cloth body is very clean and there is a bit of an opening on her cloth body on the side of her head where her flange neck is attached with wire. She has a crier inside that no longer functions. She measures approximately 16 inches in length. She has molded brown painted hair, with the typical molded squiggley curls on her forehead. There is one tiny pop to the composition on the top of her head (See photos). She has single stroke painted eyebrows over her well functioning blue sleep eyes. The irises are very bright and clear. She is missing almost all of her eyelashes on her right eye, while the ones on her left eye seem to be present (with a couple of little shorter areas). These are the only flaws that I can find with this baby. She has lots of lower painted eyelashes, sweet little upturned nose, red painted lips around her tiny open mouth showing 2 little teeth (it looks like these are backed with a red felt "tongue"), and lots of sweet blushing on her cheeks, ear lobes, backs of her hands and knees.

Her clothing consists of the following:

• Original organza gown that is embellished with topstitching. This topstitching actually makes it look like embroidery. There is a very small tag stitched into the center back seam but there doesn't seem to be any printing on it. The sleeve openings have elastic (it still has a bit of stretch to it) in them and just the tiniest hint of pink stitched edging. There is a pink ribbon bow at the center of the front. The back closes with two pearl looking buttons with corresponding button holes.

• Original matching organza bonnet. This has pink ribbon ties that match the bow on the front of the gown. The bonnet has a nice ruffled trim that also has the subtle pink colored stitched edging.

• Sleeveless muslin slip. This is very simply made, with a machine serging on the neckline and sleeve openings. The hem has a lace edging. The back opening is finished and fastens with a small brass safety pin.

• Muslin underpants. These have elastic in the leg openings that is still fairly stretchy. There is a waistband, and they close with a simple brass safety pin.

• Pink and white knit booties that fasten on her feet with pink ribbon that matches the ribbon on the rest of her wardrobe. These appear to have never been removed from her feet, and I did not attempt to take them off, for fear of damage to the booties. Her feet feel fine under these booties.

The original Ideal Doll tag is still with her. It is a gold color, measures approximately 1 3/8 inches in diameter, has a scalloped edge to it and attaches to the doll with a heavy black string. The printing (in black and red) is identical on both sides of the tag and indicates that it is "An Ultrafine Product/ An Ideal Doll/ Made in. U.S.A. By/ Ideal Novelty & Toy Co./ Long Island City New York."

Neither the doll nor its clothing have any odors.
