GREAT VINTAGE DORN & KIRSCHNER SILVERPLATED SOPRANO/ALTO? SAXOPHONE w CASE GEAR:
$213.50

This sale is for a vintage \'stencil\' silverplatedaltoor sopranosaxophone, with the name \'Dorn & Kirschner\' etched on the front of the bell. I think it\'s a tenor with an alto neck,or maybe an alto. I have no idea who the manufacturer is, although I may be Conn. Dorn & Kirschner was a music store in Newark, NJ, which opened early in the 20th century and closed in 1992. They bought instruments from makers and \'stenciled\' their own logo on the horns. I am not a musician or music dealer, so I recommend that you study the photos and email any questions, which I will do my best to answer. The saxophone was used in recent years, and the young man who sold it to me had inherited it. He said he played it, and the gear in the kit tends to confirm that. The sax appears to me to be in working condition, but I know nothing. All the moving parts seem to move freely, but I can\'t judge the condition of the pads, etc. As I was examining the sax, I noticed a slight dent, very small, and there may be others, but I can\'t find them now. There was no obvious damage I could get on camera. The case is in bad condition. It\'s intact and latches well, but there is a bad mildew odor to the case. I have left it out in the sun, and that has lessened the odor, but it\'s still a problem. If you sunbath it, maybe the odor will go away, but don\'t count on it. It\'s much less now, butmildew is pretty persistent. The case is also scuffed up and has a replacement handle, and there are tape name tags on the case. The long plume was in the saxophone when I bought it, and all the gear wasin the case. There is theplastic mouthpiece (with no brandname on it, just USA), a box of reeds, a sax swab, a tube of cork grease that seems fresh, a polishing cloth, the neck holder, and outside thecase was the horn stand. As I said, I\'m no musician, just a dealer, but I liked the fact thatthe former owner said he had been playing it, and the gear seems to indicate that he took care of it. I just noticed that themouthpiece says \'Alto Sax\' on it. This piece will be shipped in the case and inside a box stuffed with foam peanuts.

I use First Class Mail, Parcel Select Mail, or Media Mail to save on shipping whenever possible, and I combine items for shipment to save on shipping costs when possible. All items are professionally packed with proper materials and sturdy boxes. This item will ship cheapest by Parcel Select Mail. The handling charge is for insurance. The package will weigh 13-14 pounds. I will open this sale to international offerding from UK, Germany, Canada, or Australia on request, but the shipping will be expensive.
