Griswold No.9 Aluminum Skillet Wood Handle Excellent, Rare No. A209X, Look For Sale

The owner of this (in her early 70's) received this as a part of her family's estate, it was her grandmothers. The owner said it was funny because her grandmother "didn't cook anything, she didn't know how". I believe this skillet shows that. Please read on. I believe this skillet to be in extremely nice condition for its age and think it may be also quite rare. I've researched this on the internet and haven't come across one no. 9 aluminum skillet or fry pan yet. Never mind one in this excellent condition. We can't say that this has never been used but there are only a few signs of utensil marks on this (if that is what they are). The owner thought that any of the minimal surface scratches on this were only from years of movement in the cabinet.

She cleaned this by hand using no harsh abrasives. She said it didn't take much effort. No mechanical means were used to bring this to a nice shine throughout (no wire brushes, wire wheels, buffing wheels, etc). This shines brightly and has no staining pitting, dents or distortion. This sits flat with slight minimal wobble. The inside walls, bottom and spouts and including the exterior bottom still have most all of it's original factory machining lines. The exterior walls and including where the handle is attached were and are still more highly polished and are quite reflective. The black wooden handle is in excellent condition with no damage and secured firmly and very tight. It retains almost (I'm guessing 97%) of it's original black finish which also has a nice sheen to it.

The bottom of the skillet pan has block lettered "Griswold" in a cross within a double circle logo. It also reads "The Griswold MFG. Co. Erie, PA, USA". It also reads "No. 9" and "Patt. No. A209X". I believe this skillet or frying pan to be a very rare if not a quite scarce find especially in the barely used condition that it is. An excellent find! Low opening offer with .

This measures 18 1/2" from loop on handle to front of pan. 12 3/8" from spout to spout and 2 3/16" tall from bottom of pan to the top rim. Weighs just over 2 pounds.
