If you have taken time to check out all my other sales I am running this week you will see that I am selling off some of the better and best pieces from my 40 years of buying, selling, trading and collecting. I will be putting more items on as my wife tells me we have to start thinning down some of this \"stuff\". Offered here is a beautiful \"one of a kind\" Hudson Bay style blade Presentation Dag. This knife is very similar to ones marked Sorby and other makers but there is no makers name on this one and it does exhibit being hand made and hand forged. I acquired this knife back in 1979 from my old friend Ken Smallridge so this would be an X Smallridge piece. Ken said he bought this knife in North Dakota from a Sioux family back in the early 50\'s and they told him it had been passed down for over 100 years. This is one huge, beautiful knife or Dag as they are referred to. It measures 14 1/4\" long, blade itself is 7\" long and 2\" wide. Handles are made in two pieces , front and back and theyhave attained a beautiful deep patinawith some cracking and crazing evident but nothing that has damaged the handles and there are no noticeable chipping. Silver mountson the handles have a deep patina as well and do exhibit scratches as would be expected from years of use. Handles are pinnedtogether with 7 silver pins. The blade has not been cleaned and does show some blood staining and other type marks, scratches and dingsas this was not a show piece but was used for it\'s intended purpose.
