Iconic Realtone TR 803 Valiant “BLADES” Micro Transistor Radio in Original Box :
$510.00

Marty & Sue Bunis started the New England Antique Radio Club (NEARC) back in 1988.They wrote the first Collector’s Guide to Antique Radios in 1991 and three more before turning it over to Slusser. Marty would be the President of NEARC for many years. Marty’s true love of old radios was in Transistor Sets, and mine was too. To me and Marty, the ones worth owning are SMALL PIECES of ART that can be held in your hand and enjoyed. I contributed heavily to Marty and Sue’s two Collector Guides to Transistor Radios published in 1994 and 1996. Marty & Sue came to my home many times to photograph and document my collection. Many of the pictures in those books are from radios in my collection.

I am now the current President of NEARC. Some couch potato on some radio forum will say I shouldn’t tell you that, but I think you should know who you are buying from. You will find me and my son’s name in the credits of Marty & Sue’s books (Bruce and Ross Phillips).

I’ve collected Antique and Vintage Electronics for over 40 years, and sold a lot of tube radios on in the last 20 years, and will continue to do so. I haven’t sold as many Transistor sets, as I think if you are going to have this Beautiful Piece of Art in your hand, it should work-WELL- Very WELL.

I stopped buying transistors on years ago- mainly because I was disappointed in 90% of what I bought. ANYONE can sell ANYTHING on . Unfortunately many sellers don’t understand what they are selling. Just because it makes a scratchy sound when you try to tune it, doesn’t mean it works, and don’t get me started on the number of chips and cracks that were on the „Perfect“ transistors I bought on .

For many years these sets have been on shelves, until recently when I met a local man who enjoys restoring transistor radios. He changes capacitors and other needed parts, aligns the set and polishes them. They are like new, and truely everything you and I remember from our childhoods inthe 1950s and 1960s.I am Type AA, and I have no patients for this type of repair work, but Lenny loves it.

Now, before everyone asks for Lennie’s contact info to fix the millions of nonworking transistors out there, I can supply him with more work than he can do for the rest of our lives, and will not give out his info-Sorry.

This week I am saleing 11 exception, working well transistor radios- all restored by Lenny. Some are excellent examples of early American sets, and some are very rare and excellent examples of Iconic Japanese sets.

My guess, based on 40 + years of experience, over half of these radios you have never seen before and may never again. As Eric would say, „These are Truly the BEST of The BEST!!!

I need to raise some serious quick $$$ for home improvements, or I would never sell them at all. The fact that they are small and lightweight makes them great choices for my USA and International Friends. Don’t miss these as you may not have this opportunity again!!!Here for your consideration is a vintage 1960 Realtone Valiant \" BLADES \" TR803 Seven Transistor Radio that is in the original box with display box, paperwork, leather case, and original headphone. This is THE QUINTESSENTIALTRANSISTOR RADIO!! On the NET, it’s called ”An absolutely gorgeous and completely preposterous radio”, Nothing else is like it, with its side Blades or Fins if you prefer, round speaker cover, center window dial, and REALTONE in Brass across the top.

. This is surely one of the TOP 10 transistor radios of all times, and this one is as good as it gets! If you were to only have 3 or 4 transistors in your collection, this should definitely be one!! The handheld radio is smaller than a pack of unfiltered Camel cigarettes and measures only 3 3/8\" X 2 1/2\" and is 1\" wide This was surely the smallest and most fragile transistor made in 1960- just 6 years after the Regency TR-1.

This Japanese set is the earlier version with the “seven transistors” metal emblem below the dial window instead of it being pressed in the plastic. The Iconic Design Image of the Transistor Generation! The side blades are perfect, and do not appear on any other Transistor radio to my knowledge. The raised brass REALTONE adds to the beauty of the set, as does the round brass speaker grill. This 7 transistor radio has it all, and comes with its original box, presentation box, and leather case. The leather case appears almost new. The radio comes with its original Warranty Card, It was purchased at Aldens in Chicago on November 26, 1960. The receipt is with it, and it cost the buyer $29.95 at the time.

I’ve had the pleasure of owning 5 of these over the years, and I’ve seen another 5 or 6.These are extremely rare and fragile sets. I’ve only seen one that was perfect, but this one is damn close. There is a hard to see hairline between the blades on bottom left edge, and the back blade on the right top has a 1/32” chip behind it. All barely noticeable, but noted here.

Lenny repaired this but I don’t see it on his listing. This set plays LOUD and clear with good sensitivity, selectivity, and tone. The volume knob works well with no scratchy sound from bringing the volume up and down. The tuning knob works fine, but is a little scratchy when tuning. Since this is the ONLY working Realtone TR803 I’ve ever seen, I’d call that spectacular.

This transistor is PURE HANDHELD EYE CANDY!! ’The 9 Volt round batteries are still available, and a new one is included with the radio. You’d be real hard pressed to find a better one! This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Someone is going to be unbelievably happy!! Don’t miss this in the box, Iconic set!! Good Luck, Radioorphanage NR!!
