• Inspiration: TheFallingwater Redis based on a songbird called theScarlet Tanager, which feeds on beetles and caterpillars in the dense tree canopy surroundingFallingwater. Speaking ofFallingwater, it’s the name of a house built over a waterfall in Pennsylvania, USA. Designed in 1935 by the legendary architectFrank Lloyd Wrightfor the Kaufmann family, this house became a haven for birdwatchers.

• Design: Oiva Toikka was inspired by the singing and striking color of the Scarlet Tanager during a visit to Fallingwater.

• Materials and Techniques: The bird is hand-blown and tooled glass. Its body and head are made of transparent red glass with lustre additions on the wings and tail. The head and beak are transparent yellow.

• Dimensions: TheFallingwater Redstands approximately 7\" in length and 5\" in height.

• Limited Edition: Only 2,500 of these magnificent birds were produced, and each one is signed by the artist. This one is numbered

  1495 of 2500. And has its special sticker on the bottom.

• This is one of the prettiest things I have ever sold on .

  It was also one of the hardest things I have taken pictures of. I had glares from the window. And the wings were like mirrors and I could see myself, but I did the best I could. One thing I want to mention is on one wing there is what looks like a small bump - like a little pimple and I tried taking a picture of that but it wouldn\'t show up. Most people wouldn\'t mention it, but it is there...and it was done in production. Nevertheless, it is one rare - beautiful bird - and quite the showstopper. Double boxed/insured for shipping.
