ITA LA-1B Limiting Amplifier TUBE Limiter Compressor:
$2800.00

ITI LA-1B limiter/compressor. These are rare. The only Google search references I came up with are \"wonderful\" and \"rare\" – that sort of stuff. I don\'t know myself. I\'ve never used one - and don\'t really remember where we got this one. I think it was included as part of a batch of stuff we purchased several years ago from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
It\'s missing a couple of tubes - but not hard to get ones. And the meter has been semi (not very) professionally replaced. Actually, the wiringlooks fine but I think it\'s not a great meter and just mounted to a board and taped in place. Also, some less-than-wise person at some point has painted the box - or at least the top half. I assume it originally was the color of the back and the bottom part of the front. The name/logo was painted over as you can see in the pictures. I don\'t know what would happen with some sort of paint remover. I think that\'s the main negatives. On the positive side, it actually appears to be in pretty fine shape – other than that meter deal. Obviously, I didn\'tattempt to power it up. I don\'t know if the plan was to connect 110V directly to the \"power\" terminals on the back left – which seems a bit dangerous – or perhaps there was an additional box ofsome sort. I\'m trying to find that out and will update the sale if I get some answers.
Thanks. As with almost all of the stuff we\'ve sold this year, I would love to fix it up for myself and use it, but don\'t have the cash.

UPDATE: From my tech guru friend of 40 years Brian Roth –
\"ITA was a supplier of radio station equipment (transmitters, audio processors, mixers, etc). I haven\'t seen that particular limiter, but it\'s likely a variable-mu circuit. Some old radio gear did use terminal blocks for AC mains connections, but there usually was some sort of plastic/whatever cover that went across the terminal block.\"
