Big time gangster and crime movie about the gambling and organized crime industry of America. Set in New York City and eventually Las Vegas, this riveting film centers around a gambler, Robert DeNiro, who has caught the eye of a bunch of big-time Mafioso who understand his unique perspective in the world of sports gambling. He is the best in the business and they love him . . .and the tons of money he makes for them! Ace Rothstein (DeNiro), Jewish - and often referred to as a Jew, has a friend, Nicky (Joe Pesci), who is a "wild man - nut case" want-to-be-gangster, who goes from normal to absolutely crazy in a heartbeat. He is sort of Rothstein's bodyguard. When the big bosses decide to send Ace to Vegas to open a Casino, Nicky, to everyone's dismay, ends up soon following him there. Nicky is a made man, and basically can't be touched. He is totally running amuck and causing nothing but problems for Ace who is powerless to do anything about it. Of course, this is all unknown to the bosses who think Nicky is little God! Ace falls in love with a high-class hooker, Ginger (Sharon Stone), who is beautiful, but "Trash on two legs". She is offered a life of wealth and luxury, but is still hooked on a total looser of an ex-boyfriend/husband/pimp. She just can't handle respectability! She screws around with Nicky, the old boyfriend, and is also hooked on drugs. All awhile, Ace is trying to make money for the bosses, keep the Gambling Commission off his back, run a major casino, catch card cheats, and protect himself from Nick's crew who are Hell-bent on screwing everything up to make money. Eventually, everything goes to Hell-in-a-handbasket. In sort of a Bugsy Segal way, it all falls apart. Ginger steals all of Ace's "emergency money" and winds up dead of an overdose, the casino (The Tangiers) is lost when Ace is forced out and almost killed. . .Nicky winds up in a "hole in the desert", the bosses are under indictment, and everything falls apart. The movie ends with Ace back where he began, taking book on sports games, and making a lot of money! This film was typical Martin Scorsese at his best. . . Most Enjoyable!Read full review

I heard about the movie from a friend. it was like her life. so i was very interesting in seeing it. it was amazing.
I liked the pace of this film the integrity of the DeNiro character. Excellent casting the film is violent but that is the life of it's characters.
