I did a lot of reserch on this camera before I bought it. It's foldable polaroid camera made to take 600 film. Like the foldable SX-70 camera it has a Lighten/Darken setting and looking through the viewfinder - what you see is exactly what you shoot. What attracted me to the SlR 680, was its auto focus setting. You have half press the red button to focus. It focuses on the subject quickly and efficiently. I could even photograph myself without having to guess the focusing distance. The pictures come out clear and sharp. It also has a flash setting that you can switch on/off according to your taste. I have played with all sorts of polaroid cameras from the Spirit CL 600 to the Propacks. Some I have bought from camera markets, most recently on eBay. I always read the descriptions and ask questions. I look for a tested and working camera with a clean clear lens. Its ok if there is some minor wear on the cameras (they are really old anyway) as long as it doesn't affect its performance, I'm happy.Read full review
The SLR 680 is only for lovers of Polaroid photography. has a glass lens, not plastic like Polaroid 1000 or 600 lines, takes pictures with a razor sharp. if you think about buying one of these, you should be aware: -Fungus on lens. -Sonar works like a charm. -Flash move respect with the sonar. -Clean inside and outside. -Manual focus, smooth and firm. -Soft shot button -Rollers clean, no rust. -Plastic mirror clean and inside mirror super clean. *** If you have a 2007 or 2008 film, please don't use the sonar, he finished with the battery soon. Works fine with Polaroid films 600, 778, 779, impossible projects 600 and SX-70 with ND-filter. To this machine you can add a accessories, like mint lens and filters.
This is truly a marvel of Polaroid era - top of the line (if you don't count the 690 which I still am yet to try). Flash that swivels according to focusing distance. Absolutely AMAZING optics. Fast and super reliable auto focus. Very accurate light meter with about 1.2 stop +/- adjustment possible. Plenty of accessories available including telephoto lens, close-up lens, remote trigger, etc. Built in tripod mount. The only downfall is that they break easily and in a million possible ways. I currently have 7 of them. Two in working order, two in semi-working order (one of those flew off the roof of the car and works fine except the viewer is totally gone) and the rest for parts... I will never go back to any other model of Polaroid camera for this film as ling as Project Impossible will keep putting out the film.Read full review
The best integral Polaroid camera there is! Autofocus is fast and accurate, the flash gives excellent coverage. Both can also be turned off for creative effect. The lens is a proper glass one, unlike the other cheaper 600 series cameras. Uses faster film, so has a greater range of uses. The downsides: It's far less compact than a folding sx-70. The body is made of ABS plastic, rather than the stronger and shinier chromed plastic sx-70's. The complex electronics also seem to be more failure-prone than the sx-70. There are less accessories for the 680 compared to the sx-70. Hope you enjoy using yours!
I purchased a Polaskinz replacement leather set for my Polaroid SX-70 and couldn't be happier with it. The Polaskinz leather is a PERFECT fit on the SX-70 and made my SX-70 SE Sonar look like a new camera!
