I just recently upgraded my T.V. to a 42" HD and wanted to add to the experience by adding blu-ray. I reviewed some others but the Sony bdp-bx1 had some nice features and also was a good price. I was going to go for the wi-fi version but my internet is spotty sometimes in certain areas of my house so I am comfortable with the Lan hook-up. The picture with blu-ray disc's is awesome and also seems to enhance regular Dvd's . Easy to setup and easy to use, the internet connection is definitely a plus.
Pros: Nice picture quality, easy to install, plays both DVD and Blu-Ray discs very satisfied. Cons: My one main complaint is the horrible amount of time it takes to load a disc. It literally takes about a minute to finally load something on the screen from the disc. Other than that it was a nice choice Good price for a basic line Blu-Ray player. I guess you get what you pay for which having a Sony product usually means quality no matter what!
A good product,would expect nothing less from sony. Remote control is alittle complicated ,cant find disc eject button, but overall satisfied

I have had this player for a few weeks and it is great. I did a lot of research before buying and was caught up with blu-rays that have netflix built in. Also a lot of other websites. In the end I bought the sony and I just love it. I did buy a small 4gb usb drive to plug into the back for bd live features and I do use the bd live. I decided the most important issue was movie playback and this bluray is fantastic. I just use my computer to go to netflix and all the other sites and just use the hdmi slot on my laptop to watch on television. Get this bluray.
I bought this used, it is in pristine condition. It has all of the features of the more expensive players, starts up quickly and it can be upgraded through an ethernet connection. I am very pleased the sound and picture quality.
