I have a Roku player and it is a very handy device. A lot of the movies are older movies but I am a classic movie freak. It is not kid friendly which I hate. You have to be ware of what movie you watch with kids around since there are movies with nudity and sex without you being aware. I like the fact every month Roku emails me with new channel listings they have added. I keep waiting for them to add the WWE weekly wrestling on there for my son and then dish network will be history. Also if you like to keep up with other countries news then a Roku gives you news around the world as well as in other languages. You add what channels you want from their listing and you can also look up online some private channels available too. Some free some cost a couple dollars a month. There is also a lot of religious channels on here to, not just christian but also muslim and other religions. Anyway I am pleased with mine, just wish they had a way of blocking movies with sexual content without deleting the whole channel off your line up and more up to date kids cartoons would be awesome. It is growing bigger though each month with new stuff. Another thing is this is great for campers, you can have movies at your campground as long as you have internet access.Read full review
This was step one in our process of freeing ourselves from ridiculous cable TV bills. We are more than pleased with the small size, easy interface (never consulted the manual, it's ridiculously intuitive to use), and clear picture. I should note that we are Amazon Prime members, which means we have access to 100's of free TV shows & movies. Those we don't get for free, we will purchase via Amazon or Hulu and STILL be saving hundreds per year over the cable bill. I did research on CNET prior to purchase & this was the recommended Roku model as best price for the features. Please note: Rokus do not stream live TV (which wasn't clear to me when I first started researching) - you will need an indoor or outdoor antenna for that. We will soon activate our indoor antenna (not needed for the Roku, just step 2 of our freedom process) & enjoy calling the cable co. to tell them "buh-bye."Read full review
Cut the cable with this video streamer and you can also view photos or play tunes using a flash drive! Great product and a great entertainment investment.

Great alternative to cable.Save money not renting movies every week. It's super easy to set up and get started. It will get even better as the channel options improve.Lot's of free content and free trials in Hulu Plus and Epix.To make it really work for you get Netflix or Amazon and you'll always have something to watch. The kids selection could be a bit better, but they do have some subscription options there. All in all I highly recommend the the Roku 2 HD.
This Roku was bought for a second tv and was used. It looks new and performs great once I learned how to set it up. The previous owner's settings had to be removed before it could stream my apps. The highest resolution for this Roku is 780 so my 1080 tv is not up to its full capability. The only Internet service available here is through a dsl modem and buffering is a problem. Otherwise it has worked great and programming issues were user generated.
