I was disappointed after receiving this player after finding that it would not play Blu-Ray disks. I had to go onto the manufacturers website and upload a firmware update and then downloading it onto my new player before getting it to work properly. Upon calling Sharp corp. I also found out this unit was 1 1/2 years old which was a bit upsetting. How ever I have found out that all of this is not unusual with any Blue-Ray players by any manufacturer. Since doing the firmware update I have been happy with my purchase and it was well worth the small problems knowing the amount of money I saved. If you don't mind a little inconvenience I do recommend this unit for anyone wanting to save some money.
I already owned the BD-HP20 version of this blu-ray player, which is the first version of this device. The load times were very good. The player would have to be updated from the Sharp webpage when new blu-ray discs would come out with more options on the discs but they always had the updates when I needed them. The picture and sound are great. I bought this one because of my experience with the first one. There is no live connection to the internet but that is not what I bought the player for. The only issue I had was the player would sometimes freeze up and move very slow. I would unplug the player, wait one minute and plug it back in. The player would recycle its' settings and it would be fine. For the price, you will not find a better player. I thoroughly enjoy my player and use it all the time.Read full review
I've done my research, and this is the best Blu-Ray player you can possibly buy for this price. Only thing I would have asked for is an Ethernet port for easier firmware updates. But other than that...great player, excellent features, incredible sound quality and most of all, flawless picture quality.
I originally was looking for the LG BH200 HD/BD player, since I have both formats. But when I came across this player and the price, it was too good to pass up. The player loads bluray disks a lot quicker than many of the other bluray players I played around with. It has a sleek, smooth look, with the disk tray hiding behind a hinged panel that closes when the tray is retracted. It has outstanding video and audio quality as expected. If you find this player new, in the $140-160 range, I suggest you purchase it. It is an excellent buy at that price.
This is an excellent Blu-Ray player. As long as you keep the firmware up to date, it reads all discs effortlessly. I decided to purchase this bd player to go with my Sharp LCD TV, and so far I'm happy with my purchase. I have yet to have any of the problems others have mention on other review sites. I think it was more user error and not a product error. Just remember as long as the firmware is current, you'll be just fine and that goes with any bd player.
