I love seeing the St. Louis Cardinals player back in the 80's under Whitey Herzog, which is one of the best managers the cardinals ever had. The speedy baserunners such as Willie McGee, Ozzie Smith, Vince Coleman. I love Whitey Ball, which was called back then when the Cardinals would double steal to generate runs because the ballpark was one of the longest ball to hit homeruns. I like Jack (The Ripper) Clark. Love it when the Cardinals won the 1982 world series being the underdog. Hate it to see when they got cheated in the world series against Kansas City in game 6. I knew it was over then, before game 7, which happen to be the only world series Kansas City ever won. Also, didn't like it when they lost the world series against Minnesota Twins. The Cardinals was the National League team of the 80's.They were in 3 world series, but only winning 1. Great to relive those days. This dvd is a must for any Cardinals fan.Read full review
Good compilation of game video from the 3 series. Has broadcast audio from the national broadcast team, rather than the local St. Louis team, that sometimes takes away from the experience as it is a neutral viewpoint -- maybe some will like that. Also, there is quite a bit of non-game video interspersed highlighting the cities involvement in the series, the fans, local songs, pep rallies, fan reaction kinda stuff. Does a good job giving a historical perspective, but I thought the tight camera shots of fan reactions got a bit tiresome. Overall a very good DVD, too bad the Cards came out on the losing end in two of the three.
steve braun suggested that i get this dvd and he also played in 2 of the 3 world series that are on this dvd. These world series gaames paved the way for whitey herzog to go in the hall of fame. Watching these games is like taking a free walk back in time. I suggest this dvd for any serious baseball fan - billy staples - before the glory n my newest book - billyball 2009 world series phillies n Yankees -
