Joan Blondell, Roland Young and Eddie "Rodchester" Anderson star in this sequel to "Topper." Although not quite as good as the first, this has a lot going for it. There are a few good character actors in this 1941 film. One of my favorites is Rodchester; the straigt man for Jack Benny for all those years. Another is George Zucco, who played the villian in so many of the horror movies of the 1940's. Two women get a flat tire on the way to meeting one's long forgotten father. They get a ride from a reluctant Cosmo Topper, a middle aged business man and his driver Rodchester. Topper seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. After several "accidents", Joan Blondell is mistakenly murdered. She comes back as a ghost and unfortuneately for him, can be seen and heard only by Topper. Joan enlists his help to help prevent her friend from being done in and to help solve her own murder. This is an enjoyable movie. There is myster and suspense, comedy, especially by Joan Blondell, a reasonable storyline, and plenty of sight gags that they used to do in the forties with trick photography. It keeps your interest throughout. Good fun for the entire family.Read full review
