- Very coarsely made. A truly well-made version would have cost many, many times more though. - Accurate but really rough machining for the most part. - The lead screw block for the lower lead screw is mounted loosely--very loosely--in a hole in the lower slide. - The lead screw collars also function as the lash limiters. They have set screws that strip out if you look at them too hard, leaving the device completely useless until repaired. - Customer service made every attempt to be helpful, and sent a bunch of spare parts in an effort to help. - The new lead screw collar stripped out under moderate--and I do mean moderate tightening pressure. - Greased lead screws and slides, adjusted lateral slide clearance. - Applied an ultra high-strength rubberized cyanoacrylate adhesive used to mount gun sights on the lead screw block where it meets the lower slide to eliminate the wiggle there. - Had to shoot a 5MM Helicoil into the stripped collars--the stripped hole is almost the right size for the Helicoil tap--a little big, but it works. Applied the same adhesive before shooting the Helicoil in. The new set screws are smaller around than the originals, but pointed so they align with the indent on the lead screw.Read full review

Keep in mind what this is, an inexpensive cross slide vice. Mine came in excellent shape fairly well adjusted but covered in that grit that this type of tool from China is normally covered with. Generally speaking it's normal to need gib adjustment to get the slop out of these and there is always a fair about of slop in the lead screws. If you're looking for perfection, well you're gonna have to pay 300-400 dollars for that. THIS, well this is a high VALUE low cost cross slide vice. You could use it right out of the box, my advice, clean it, take it completely apart and clean it really well with a good mild solvent, mineral spirits or maybe just keep hitting it with light oil or WD etc, keep wiping until it's clean. If there are burrs or anything you can feel either stone it or use a granite block and scrape it in, or just clean it and leave it. Lube the sliding parts with 30 weight oil and give the rest a coat of paste wax. Adjust the gibs so there is no play, a little tight, then just barely back it off until it's smooth. If you do these things this inexpensive high value vice will perform like one twice it's price. It's never going to be perfect. I would recommend this to anyone, for real. Very nicely made I'm thoroughly impressed.Read full review

Pretty solid vise. Not top-of-the-line but an excellent value. Has some lash in the threads, so don't plan to do any climb milling. I consider it a great value and look forward to not crashing my workpieces as often!
