The player pre-dates the Federal anti-piracy mandate that eliminated component (red/blue/green) and composite interlaced video outputs. It is valuable in that context for use with older TVs that lack HDMI. Image quality is good with both Blu-ray and upscaled standard DVDs. It will also upsample standard redbook CDs to 96khz/24 bit. Although slow to load, it will also play the new Blu-ray audio only format at the native 96khz/24bit rate. There is no SACD or DVD Audio capability - a minor or non-issue for most users.

This is my first blu-ray player. I have two Panasonic televsion sets and have to say my favorite feature is the quality of the sound. This blu-ray player is easy to use, with a timer so you know to the minute where you are in the movie. Picture quality is very good. I wanted a reliable, easy to use DVD player and this is it!

I bought this because I was VERY disappointed with the Viera internet TV as implemented on my LCD. You cannot select new 'channels' and the set comes with Napster as a preselected choice. Nice...they're out of business, I have wasted channel that I can't change. So...the manual makes you believe the DMP-DB65 will give you that option. Not so. You cannot select your own 'channels' with the internet television feature on the blu ray either. More channels, no choices. If all you care about is streaming NetFLix, this would be just fine. If you want to watch Revision 3 or any other personal choice...nope. The blu-ray boots wicked fast, plays great, the linking with my Panasonic TV is seemless. If you want to control from your iPad...nope. I can't get that to work either. Panasonic has really dissappointed with "Viera".Read full review
Like everything about the product. Excellent video. Fast to start. Since this was a refurbished unit I am hoping it continues to please. I knocked it down a star because when I got it it rattled like something was broken. I had to open the unit up to discover two pieces of broken metal about the size of a nickel and quarter were inside. They were not part of the player, in fact one piece was marked TDK.

Bought it to play DVDs only, not Blu-rays. Got one with an older firmware that pre-dates Cinavia. For an 8yr old player, it’s still fast enough to load and video is very good.
