This extremely hard to find horror movie was made in 1980, it says this in the credits. This was the same year when modern horror like "Friday The 13th", with Jason's mother, who was the killer in the first, and only the first one, was out. The movie is a lot like all of the "Jaws" movies, because people are getting attacked, and killed around the ocean. The only thing different is that they are getting attacked and killed by getting dragged all the way down into the sand before they can even reach the ocean, instead, like the "Jaws" movies getting attacked and killed while in the ocean by a shark. This was one of the very first modern horror movies, "Last House On The Left", "Phantasm", "Friday The 13th" part one,"Halloween", "Rituals", "Sisters", "Jaws 1 and 2", "Orka The Killer Whale", and "Squirm" are the only other modern horror films that came before it. What I mean by modern is that it is like horror movies of today, not like 1930's "Dracula" or "Frankenstein". So I would say that other horror movies have taken some kind of influence in one way or another from this modern horror flick. The cast has Burt Young from the "Rocky" movies and John Saxon from "Nightmare On Elmstreet" part one and "Enter The Dragon". The movie is pretty good, but not that scary like "Friday The 13th". It is a lot better than a lot of horror movies out there that have been released in the past fifteen years though. You can only get it on VHS tapes, because they just have not released it on Dvd for some reason, which I hope that they will soon, but they probably will not, since they have not done it yet.Read full review
I remember watching this movie with my dad when i was in my 8th or 9th grade year. We are both horror and sci-fi fans. I was so happy that i found a copy of it. My father is also very pissed at me for it. But, i dod intend to get him a copy of it. If nothing else i'll watch it a few times and give it to him this christmas. But, anyone that loves the beach and bikin's and terrifying monster's under the beach. Need to seriously watch this movie.
Who wants an old vhs rental from 1981. Well I did and I was able to find it here on ebay and was not charged though the nose for it. My dad was an extra in this movie back in the day, I gave it to him as a gift and he loved it. A piece of history, no matter how cheesy. It was in the best condition you can ask for, for being like 27 years old. This was a great purchase, no mater the reasons.
