LANDSCAPE DAGUERREOTYPE PHOTOGRAPH of the JOSEPH ANDREWS HOUSE in LANCASTER MASS For Sale

This is a rare antique landscape daguerreotype featuring the Joseph Andrews House located on Center Bridge Road in Lancaster, Massachusetts. The daguerreotype is fresh from the estate of the family whose relative, Matthew Fenton Woods, once lived in this house. Joseph Andrews commissioned the building of this Greek Revival-style house around the time of his marriage to Thomazine Phillips of Boston. Andrews was a copper and steel plate engraver for the Carter and Andrews Printing and Publishing Company, which operated in Lancaster, MA from about 1825 to 1835. When Carter and Andrews failed, Andrews\' house was repossessed by the buillder. Matthew Fenton Woods lived in the house during the mid-19th century when this daguerreotype was taken. The sixth plate daguerreotype shows the Greek Revival house with four large Ionic colums in the center with a barn to the left and other houses on the right. The dag has some tiny specks on the glass but otherwise is in very good condition! The spine on the case is split but otherwise the case is in very good condition!
