Up for sale is a beautifully woven old Nez Perce Indian cornhusk bag from the Northwest US. It\'s an amazing feat of weaving, and these bags are considered a true art form. This bag is a large one - see how it takes up the entire seat of my chair, which is not some wimpy dainty chair. Like most of these bags, this one was woven with different designs on each side. One side has multicolored diamonds with pink and yellow centers, and the other side has bars and stripes with red and black predominating. The bag has what looks like its original rawhide drawstring to keep it closed. The bag comes with some fragments of interesting old paperwork, as well as a tag with the price of $1475 and a name on the other side I can\'t make out. This is an extremely nice old Nez Perce bag, and will make a stunning addition to someone\'s collection. I hesitate to use the phrase, \"museum quality,\" but this large old bag is truly museum quality.
The bag, as noted, is a big one, measuring 18½\" x 13\". This old artifact is in outstanding condition, with no cracks, rips, or any serious damage. If you look carefully you can see some water stains on the lower half of the bag, and the rawhide drawstring at the top has a couple of breaks, but these are the only flaws and are actually quite minor. I have taken a lot of photos so you can see all aspects of the bag\'s features and condition. A beautiful old Nez Perce cornhusk bag from the early years of the past century.
