Sold As Is - In need of cleaning and repair
Ernst Leitz GmbH Wetzlar - Leica - Summarit f=5cm 1:1.5
Serial Number : No. 1000577
The external condition is excellent - there is no significant damage to the external components of the lens - there are no dents, gouges, scratches or offensive evidence of abuse or misuse - The external condition is a 9 out of 10 in my untrained opinion and better than others I’ve seen on
The the focusing ring turns smoothly as does the aperture ring - there is no binding or roughness or looseness - this is a good candidate for repair and restoration.
The glass is not scratched or cloudy or moldy / metal is not corroded
**** Please note: Inside of the lens barrel there is a loose object that moves and floats around. It looks like a piece of black paper material or perhaps part of an internal seal that has come loose and floats freely inside the barrel. I am not an expert or repairman, so I have no idea what it is or how it might be repaired, therefore, it is sold *as is* for parts or repair.
**** Please note: The lens is unmolested and has not been worked on or disassembled. The screws that hold the lens together have not been removed or loosened - it is unmolested and in no way bunged-up. It has never been opened.
I believe a Leica/Leitz expert could clean and repair the vintage lens, but again, I am a novice and do not know what it needs to repair
