You are offerding on or purchasing:AN ANTIQUE VOLKSTEDT DRESDEN LACE PORCELAIN FIGURE GROUP, LARGER COURTING COUPLE WITH DRINKS, STUNNING AND RARE GERMAN COLLECTIBLE PIECE.
ORIGINAL VOLKSTEDT DRESDEN LACE PORCELAIN COURTING PAIR GROUP FIGURAL offered as acquired from estate household. This item was kept in a closed glass display case for at least the previous 4 decades before I acquired it, so it is beautifully clean and visually stunning, no smoke or dust residue at all. The blue under-glaze hallmark is shown on the back on the floor; I am not an expert but quick research indicates this mark is attributed to Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik AG (1900 - 1936). There are no other markings or incisions, the bottom is not marked. Measures right at 8\" tall and 10\" wide, with courting couple man and woman in classical dress. One very unusual thing about this piece is that it features the couple drinking what would appear to be wine or other alcoholic beverages... you may have seen this before, but I sure as heck never have. What\'s more, the woman is actually topping off the man\'s glass -- so I think that little hussy has love on her mind!
The condition on this piece is simply amazing considering it\'s age. It is normal to have some minimal loss of lace on these pieces, but the lace here is about 95 percent or better, with the only noticeable area being on the back, on the man\'s right wrist cuff at top (see detail photo). There may be a bit of lace loss around the very edge of her dress hem where it extends beyond the width of base, but if so it is so microscopic as to be irrelevant. There are NO repairs, breaks, hairlines, missing fingers or any other condition notes to report.
These antique Dresden pieces are extremely hard to find and growing in value every year; I\'m letting the sale proceed with NO MINIMUM and !
If you don\'t have this piece in your collection, you may never find another example in this lifetime, so what are you waiting for??? Soda cans, dollar coins, rulers and other objects seen in photos are for size reference only.
