LGE 12.5\" CHINESE DEEPLY CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER VASE QING PERIOD HIGH QUALITY For Sale

For your consideration we have here a superb large antique Chinese deeply carved cinnabar lacquer vase produced in Canton, China sometime during the late Qing Dynasty or c1890 to possibly c1920 for the export market. This is a large and impressive vase being a bit over 12\" in height in a fine deep red color having a attractive surface patina. The vase is finely worked depicting groups of figures in outdoor settings while sitting at stone tables and walking engaged in leisurely conversation surrounded by a mountainous backdrop along with other rockery, plants a large meandering pine tree as well as prunus, dogwood and willow trees. There are also numerous scrolling leafy tendrils, flower heads and a variety of geometric backgrounds all in nice deep relief hand applied over a thin copper body which makes this quite light and the inside and underneath are finished in the traditional black lacquer. Condition is excellent with no damage, losses or repairs with only some small areas of the geometric background that has raised up a bit and a few age related splits again to the geometric background and this is quite common when applied over copper as the metal is quite thin but a veryattractivevase with wonderful workmanship and details.
