For sale is my Luxman R 1050 receiver. This receiver was produced in Japan from 1977-1979, and it was an export only component.
I\'ve owned a Harmon Kardon, a Marantz 2245 and this Luxman R 1050. I can honestly say that the Luxman is by far the best sounding of the three, and the best sounding solid state receiver I\'ve ever heard. I sold my Marantz 2245 on this forum so that I could buy the Lux, and it was an excellent upgrade.
The Luxman sound is vintage and warm, and the audio quality and power is very close to my tube receiver.
Two weeks ago this receiver was checked and serviced by Galaxie Electronics here in Pittsburgh. The only issue I can find with it is that there\'s a bit of crackle when you turn the balance knob from left to right. Other than that, the sound is full and powerful.
Cosmetically, I can\'t find any flaws. It\'s super clean and from a smoke free home.
Not much else to say about it other than it\'s an awesome vintage receiver. The sound stage is incredible, the bass is super thick, the mids are smooth, and the treble is crystal clear. I can\'t imagine anyone needing or wanting a solid state upgrade after hearing it.
