MARANTZ 2600 –– EXCELLENT CONDITION:
$6900.00

Dear Marantz Lover,I\'m selling this super-rare Marantz 2600 here on my wife Lisa\'s account. (Thank you, Lisa!)First, please know, I\'m not an expert on Marantz, or any stereo receivers from this era. But I am 100% honest. I\'ll do my very best to describe this Marantz 2600 to you as accurately as I can.Years ago, when I set out to buy this, I told my vintage stereo friend (he •is• an expert) that I wanted the very best Marantz receiver that was ever made. And then, after looking for almost two years, we found this one, in amazing condition.I’ve owned this Marantz 2600 for many years now. I’m the kind of guy who always tries to buy “the best” – so I waited a long time to find one that was in such fantastic shape. I wanted a Marantz 2600 that looked and worked perfectly, which is why I bought this one.My friend was also happy that this 2600 was original. He said that some units out there have been “gone through” by hacks who “ruin” them, but mine was virgin. I remember my friend being very pleased about its condition after it arrived and he checked it out.Over the years, I listened to a lot of music through this Marantz. It always worked perfectly. I never had any trouble. As you probably know, the warm, full sound this receiver makes is incredible. I don\'t think that any modern receivers or amps come close to the Marantz sound, warmth, and richness. That\'s just my opinion.About 6 months ago my wife and I had our young nieces and nephews come stay with us, and I didn’t want to run any risk of the kids damaging the Marantz, so I boxed it carefully and put it in a closet. Now, my wife and I are moving to a new home, and I don’t have a good place to set up this Marantz 2600 in our new house. So, the time has come for me to sell it.Did it work perfectly when I was last using it? YES.Can I •guarantee• you that it will work perfectly after you buy it? No. Nobody can make such a promise, because it’s a nearly 40-year-old device. And sometimes things go wrong with 40-year-old devices. But to the best of my knowledge, everything on this Marantz 2600 works as it should. I don’t know of anything wrong with it.Cosmetically I\'d call it \"perfect\" – but again – it\'s almost 40 years old. I\'m sure that a magnifying glass can locate a scratch here and there. I\'ll include good photos so you can check it out for yourself. There are very few NICE Marantz 2600’s left in this world. This is your chance to own the nicest one I’ve ever seen (by far).*The cool “scope” window works as it\'s supposed to. It\'s really cool! :) *There is no wood case.P.S. When I bought this Marantz, I got something that came with it called an “FM Tuner” (or something like that) but I’m having trouble finding it in my house. I’m pretty sure I will find it because my wife and are packing up our home to move. So, I can’t •promise• this “FM Tuner” module, but I think I’ll find it. If I do, it\'s yours. I\'ll happily send it to you, as I\'ll have no use for it.MORE INFORMATION...This Marantz 2600 is sold as-is — all sales final, no refunds. If any more info is needed or pictures needed let me know and I’ll do my best to send you more. Will ship out within 3 days or less and will only ship to the USA. It\'s big and heavy. If I over-quoted for shipping, I\'ll refund the difference to you. Please ask all your questions, look at the pictures and offer accordingly :)This Marantz 2600 has been my pride and joy, with its many awesome features, its 300 watts per channel, its heft (approaching 75 lbs.), its BEAUTY, and certainly its rarity. The receiver is all original – all knobs are original and all features function as designed.I feel that this is just about the nicest 2600 you could reasonably find. But if you\'re looking for a cosmetically perfect museum piece, this isn\'t it. This isn’t “new old stock” that was never removed from its original box. But for a used stereo receiver that’s about four decades old, it doesn’t get much nicer than this one.A Paypal deposit of $500 will be required at successful close of sale, with full payment due in two (2) working days (by Paypal or Official Check).I am open to offers, but am also aware of the rarity of this receiver, and thus offers must be reasonable to warrant serious consideration.Due to size and weight, shipping will not be cheap. I\'m estimating $140, but I reserve the right to refund an overpayment or levy an additional amount if my estimate is too far off. Please ask all questions before offerding or exercising \'Buy it Now\' or making offers.Thank you for viewing my is some additional information I found about the Marantz 2600, if you’re interested:Overview:Resulting from decades of cutting-edge Marantz engineering and arguably the most powerful receiver ever constructed, the mighty Marantz 2600 has truly earned its reputation as the \"Holy Grail\" of vintage monster receivers.Introduced in 1978 at a then-astronomical MSRP of $1,599 (which would be $6,100 in today\'s dollars), the Marantz 2600 was the \"amped-up\" sequel to Marantz\'s 1977 model 2500, bumping output up from 250 to 300 Watts per channel, and adding quartz-lock tuning. The only other major \"heavyweight\" contenders during those years were Pioneer\'s SX-1980 (270 WPC @ 8 Ohms) and Technics\' SA-1000 (330 WPC @ 8 Ohms). However, unlike Marantz, neither of those two manufacturers had the courage to publish a power spec into FOUR Ohms. Most experts and enthusiasts feel the Marantz 2600 is the best and most powerful receiver ever built. The tuner is incredibly sensitive, and the quartz lock works perfectly. All of the push-button switches and rotary controls work smoothly and positively, without any intermittency or noise (that I’ve noticed). The scope is bright and sharp, exhibiting no trace of any burn-in I can see, and all scope functions seem to work as they’re supposed to.The amplifier is powerful enough to peel your wallpaper, yet nearly dead-quiet at idle. And as for the sound quality – in my opinion, nothing sounds as warm and nice as a vintage Marantz receiver like this. It delivers tremendous power and clarity, but with detail and finesse. It can effortlessly handle the hardest-hitting rock cuts you can throw at it, yet it\'s equally at home with your most delicate acoustic selections.

EDIT: Hey all. A few people have contacted me, asking for the serial number. It\'s 89U020080. I added a photo of it, too.
