Marantz Model 2270 AM/FM Stereo Receiver 70W Per Channel 70\'s Elegance For Sale

CONDITION: Back in the early 70’s, many stereo receivers had a styling elegance about them, power to spare, and were often built like tanks.  The Marantz Model 2270 is a prime example with quite a following to this day.  It delivers a true 70 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms (the rest of the specs and discussions of this model are widely available on the net)   Here’s a very clean example that’s been recently tested.  It had been put away for years, and the cosmetics are outstanding with a flawless front panel, switches, knobs, and dial scale.  Graphics and lettering look pristine with no rub-off.  The outer metal cover has no dents, and a very uniform wood grain covering that  has a faint scratch on top from equipment stacking, but the eye will not be drawn to it.  Performance is excellent.  I drove my speakers to great volume for hours with this receiver on all sources including Phono, Tape, AM/FM, and Aux inputs.  I found the unit delivered  great depth of bass, crisp highs and midrange, all nicely adjustable with the stepped  front panel controls along with the Loudness switch.  Adjusting the controls and switches caused no static or scratchiness on the audio.  AM reception was excellent along with FM Stereo where a good antenna allowed excellent reception as well.  Signal Strength and FM tuning meters are fully operational along with the muting switch to eliminate interstation hash while tuning across the dial.  Tuning cursor glides across the dial smoothly without slipping or binding.  When this piece was first brought out of storage, several front panel “fuse lamps” were out.  The entire batch of fuse lamps were recently removed and replaced with new ones that illuminate the front panel beautifully, seen well in photos above.  Stereo indicator is working along with the other function indicator lamps, and the tuning cursor lamp is working as well.  While under the hood I noticed no burnt, swollen or stressed components, nor any heavy dust accumulation.  Back panel jacks are quite clean along with speaker and antenna terminals, and the fold-out AM rod antenna is undamaged.  All in all, a nicely preserved and working 2270 well worth considering.
