Most importantly, I do not like to openitems purchased from an sale to find surprises that I felt should have been mentioned in the description. That being said I am trying to be as honest as I can.
I am selling my Marantz 2270 that I purchased from an sale in 2003. It has been in regular use since then. I have decided to embrace modern tube audio technology and therefore is my decision to sell this unit.
I replaced the speaker relay several years ago which fixed occasional speaker static when listening at low volume levels. I see many units for sale have been recapped. In my opinion, even though the resistance and impedance of the new components are the same or better, I question whether the original sound remains as designed by the Marantz engineers. I firmly believe that “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” In my opinion the unit still sounds wonderful.

Please view them carefully. Some show physical imperfections that I want you to be aware of before you offer. Check out the unit id plate on the back as it is somewhat unique. Rather than ‘Made in Japan’ it is simply stamped S.R.C. Not sure if this is of any significance but something has kept the unit operating all these years.
Here is what is wrong with the unit. The Tape and Phono2 selector indicator lamps do not light. The unit came to me with one of the preout jumpers missing and replaced with a jumper wire. The headphone output does not work. The insert in the outside treble knob is loose.The condition of the wooden case appears better than most of the photos of other units I’ve seen for sale but on close inspection you’ll find it’s not perfect.
This receiver is being Sold As Is To protect myself as a seller, I am listing it this way as there are no refunds for any reason whatsoever. Due to the vintage nature of this product and potential parts swapping and rarity, if you buy it you own it.
