Webster Marble built his first knives and axes in Gladstone , Michigan about 1898. They manufactured several high quality sheath and hunting knives. These knives were considered \"Top Drawer Quality\" by any sportsmen & this is one of those knives. This is a VERY RARE Haines Bowie Knife , 1910-15. It was designed by Ashley A. Haines, a then famous sportsman who was also famous for his Haines Model target revolvers & pistols. Designed primarily as a utility & skinning knife, it might be said to be the forerunner of the post-WW1 Marble\'s Woodcraft knife, tang stamped on one side \"M.S.A CO. GLADSTONE, MICH. USA\". The OAL is 10\", the blade measures 5-3/4\" long, showing a few scratches & peppering. This is a GREAT Solid Knife ! The handles are Great Stag slabs, secured to the full extended tang by three brass pins, no chips / cracks. Comes with a Very Old all Leather Cartridge Belt with an all leather tube style sheath attached to the belt by three large brass rivets and tacked on the front with the initials “JH”. This is a WONDERFUL M.S.A. Haines Bowie that would be the center piece of any knife collection & very rare to find !
