DESCRIPTION:   Colt Model 1860 Army Barrel Assembly.  Based on serial number it was made in 1862, martially inspected with marks.  (Other parts of same pistol had inspector\'s cartouche and inscription for Oregon\'s 1st Cavalry).  This sale consists of ONLY the Barrel Assembly.

HISTORICAL NOTE: \"Volunteer cavalry and infantry were recruited in California and sent north to Oregon to replace the Federal troops and keep the peace and protect the populace. Oregon also raised the 1st Oregon Cavalry that was activated in 1862 and served until June 1865. During the Civil War, emigrants to the newfound gold fields in Idaho and Oregon continued to clash with of Oregon, Idaho and Nevada until relations degenerated into the bloody 1864 - 1868 Snake War.\"  (Wiki)  Camp Alvord was active from 1864-1866.

MARKINGS:  \"62572\" and \"H\" inspection mark on Barrel Assembly.  (related parts of same gun were inscribed:  \"Alvord 1st Calvary\" and \"JT\" (John Taylor\'s \'cartouche.\')

CONDITION:    Barrel Assembly coated with uniform rust.  Barrel front does NOT separate from Hammer end.
