This is the famous \"Dept. of Commerce\" limiter / leveling amp. It appears under several differentnumbers by several different manufacturers depending on the contract, but all are essentially identical in function: They were designed to have an intentionally limited bandwidth inorder to prioritize legibility for ground-to-air communication. In the studio environment, they give anunbelievable presence and focus to whatever you put through them. If you search for background info on these units--especially anything written by famed mix engineer Michael Brauer--you\'ll soon catch on.
This unit was completely gone through and rebuilt as needed--and just as importantly, left alone where needed! It features an adjustable input pad and attack and release controls (threshold is the \"regulation\" pot). Also included with this sale are high-quality Canare XLR pigtails and a new hospital-grade AC cable. All of the tubes are high-quality new components and all are N.O.S. except for the 12AX7 driver, which is a Tung-Sol.
