I've got another outstanding assortment of mechanical, technological and musical antiques for you to mull over this week, so make sure to check out my other listings after you look at this one.
Here's a beautiful, perfectly working Columbia B cylinder phonograph with a 10" nickel horn and an outstanding Columbia "Eagle" reproducer in its original box. The phonograph is ruggedly built (the "B" was the mechanical foundation of many Columbia coin-operated phonographs) yet it's small enough to fit just about anywhere.Condition is close to mint. I've been buying and selling phonographs for more than 20 years, and I think this is the cleanest original "B" that's ever passed through my hands. Original Columbia "Eagle" reproducer with a good sapphire and its original cardboard box. Originalcabinet decal (it's nearly flawless-- look at the pictures), original cabinet finish, with no touch-ups or damaged veneer.
Near mint mechanism, with virtually no plating wear, and no significant oxidation or corrosion. Motor and gearing are in perfect working order, and the governor keeps the mandrel spinning at a steady speed.
The 10" nickel horn is a replica made by Ron Sitko. It's almost indistinguishable from an original horn, except that unlike most original nickel horns, it doesn't look like it just dragged up from the bottom of a lake. The winding key is original, with moderate plating wear but no rust or corrosion. The tiny oil can is in good shape, with no dents and no holes.Overall, an outstanding little "Eagle" that doesn't need any tweaks or repairs or parts in order to be enjoyed immediately. I'll include a 2-minute cylinder with the phonograph so it will be ready to play as soon as it arrives. If you get tired of listening to the cylinder, there are plenty of other titles available on and elsewhere. The machine plays Edison cylinders too, I should note, along with those made by Oxford, Lakeside, etc. And if you're not already familiar with how tooperate an early cylinder phonograph, don't worry. I'll provide you with simple, easy to understandset-up instructions,so you'll be able to use it within minutes after you unpack it and put it together. That's about it. I will carefully prepeverything for shipping andpack everything carefully and properly. I've been shipping fragile antique phonographs and wireless sets for years, and I know how to get them to you safely. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. sale participants with no prior response record should contact me before offerding.
