You won\'t be disappointed.Here\'s a near mint, perfectly working Edison Standard A \"New Style\" cylinder phonograph with an early original Edison sidearm C reproducer, an early original shaver, an early original Edison oil can (with the original paper label still intact on the underside of the base), and an early original crank. The phonograph comes with an original horn crane (rear mounted, so it doesn\'t block the view of the beautiful banner cabinet decal) and an original black and brass 24\" Standard Metal Mfg. Amplifying horn.
Despite being more than 115 years old, the phonograph still plays great, and it will arrive at your door with detailed, easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions so you won\'t have to guess what to do once you\'ve unpacked it.
The pictures should tell the story here. The phonograph is pristine -- one of the nicest fumed oak Standards I\'ve ever sold or, for that matter, even seen. It\'s in near mint condition throughout, with pristine original decorations on the enameled bedplate and no damaged or flaking paint anywhere.
The banner decal on the front of the cabinet is original and close to perfect, as you can see.
The motor is original and in excellent condition, with ample torque. The governor assembly is working properly, and the pitch doesn\'t waver as a cylinder plays through. All of the gearing beneath the bedplate is clean, and the governor is functioning perfectly. The slotted cast iron crank is original with moderate enamel wear but no chipped or otherwise damaged iron.
The fumed oak cabinet is beautiful, almost perfect. Excellent tongue-groove-joints everywhere with no swelling or damage. No damage to the baseboard, no damage to the molding, all four original feet still intact on the underside of the base. The cabinet finish is original throughout, and it\'s in excellent condition -- still smooth, with virtually no wear. Lid is exceptional too, with no veneer damage and the original Chicago dealer\'s decal still wholly intact on the interior side. As noted above the cabinet decal is original. Its gold details are so crisp they\'re almost three dimensional.
The 24\" Standard Amplifying horn is original and in excellent condition, with original paint and an original decal. A few scattered dings, but no dents, no rust, no other damage. The early Edison Sidearm C Reproducer is also in excellent condition, and it sounds great. Very loud, and very dynamic.
I\'ll include with the phonograph an excellent early Edison Gold Moulded cylinder record in its original cardboard canister.If you\'ve been patiently waiting for a museum quality example of an early Edison cylinder phonograph, this may be what the doctor ordered.
