NEW - Transoceanic Radio Battery Pack:
$140.00

Update: 4/27/18 - Limited supply! This item is being DISCONTINUED! I have retired from battery pack fabrications. Once these are gone, that's it! No more!!!
Transoceanic Radio Battery - Brand new!ATTENTION RADIO COLLECTORS!
Would you like to test your Zenith Trans-Oceanic (or other) tube radio onbattery power? Or display it with a beautiful, well built and long lastingbattery? Are you concerned about power surges or rolling black outs? Does yourradio sound bad due to A/C hum? Would you like to take your radio on the road orjust use batteries for the convenience and IMPROVED SHORTWAVE PERFORMANCE?Then CHECK THIS OUT:A PROFESSIONALLY BUILT, MODERN BATTERY PACK WITH A FIVE YEAR WARRANTY THAT ISSIMPLE AND RELIABLE!For use with Zenith Trans-Oceanic and other radios such as the RCA Stratoworld,Hallicrafters TW1000 & TW2000 or any other radio that would use a BrightStar- 66-03, Burgess- G6B60, Eveready- 752, Funken 939, General- 343,Hallicrafters- P999, Olin Bond- 0616, Ray-O-Vac-AB995, RCA- VS047, Sears- 6401,Usalite- AB677, Willard- WZ-3 or Zenith- Z-985 battery. Providing an "A" output of9 volts DC and a "B" output of 90 volts DC.SIMULATES THE ORIGINAL BATTERY YOUR RADIO WAS DESIGNED TO USE!
Providing steady and gentle PURE DC power for your preciousequipment. This means there is not any need for complicated voltage regulation orcircuit protection! For anybody who is not familiar with the design found in most of these radios -Internal circuitry includes a crossover resistor that ties both A & B togetherwhen the radio is on. This means that even though battery power is very stablealready; your radio actually stabilizes the power even more! Helping to maintainbattery voltage and providing up to 99 volts for radio performance. And of course;it is a vacuum tube circuit which is not nearly as susceptible to voltage changesas a solid state circuit is! (Don't EVER let anybody tell you different.)That's right folks! This IS a BATTERY! DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED by somebody usingscare tactics by telling you that your radio tubes "need protection"! This batterydoes not need any kind of voltage regulation. Your radio was designed to run onBATTERY POWER providing slightly LOWER VOLTAGE than A/C power, and has done sojust fine for DECADES. (If a tube fails when a new battery is installed? It simply means that tube was weak and about to fail anyway. And was even more likely to fail on the higher voltage AC power.)

This quality, custom built product consists of a heavy duty reinforced tray,3 holders that hold 60 AAcells and 1 holder that hold 6 D cells along with a connector for your radio. Allprofessionally wired with OVER-SIZED WIRING and mounted in a well built, longlasting, reusable battery pack that is covered by a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY! (It's sosimple and reliable, what's to go wrong with it? You could go through 3 changes ofbatteries over a 5 year period and it will still be in a new condition safelyprotected inside your radio!)Unlike an electronic inverter/converter there is no need for "circuit protection" such as a fuse because, again, it is a BATTERY using small flashlight cells. It is protected byit's own internal resistance and is not a fire hazard like an inverter can be ifnot properly protected and regulated. (Voltage regulation & circuit protection is REQUIRED for such complicateddevices to operate properly and safely, it is not an "advantage".) But, in a unique way, this battery pack does protect itself anyway. Should there be a complete, and total, short that actually does result in 'hot batteries' the battery heat, itself, tends to deform plastic holders until the connection is broken.

Battery life-The cells this battery pack uses are more than twice the reserve capacity of the "waffer"cells originally used 50+ years ago and will greatly extend the expected battery lifeover the original Zinc/Carbon A/B battery! I have customers from two years agoreporting that they are still using their first set of alkaline batteries! You can expect a battery life of around 425 hours depending on model, batteryquality and average listening of a couple hours per day. Compare this to aninverter running on D-cells at only 70 hours. And of course you also have theunique advantage to be able to replace the D-cell filament batteries separatefrom the plate batteries as the AA-cells will tend to outlast the D-cells.NOTE - Some models such as the 7G and 8G require a secondary "Z-1" battery for theloctal tube voltage at 10.5 volts. And others such as the 600 series havea dial light. And a Z-1 battery substitute is included for FREE as a separateoption if needed for your particular model. And includes a hook & latch fastenerforconvenient mounting in your radio or on the battery pack. How does it compare in terms of battery replacement costs? There are more expensive and complicated products available using an electroniccircuit and 10 D-cells with a battery life of around 70 hours compared to 425hours when using my PURE DC battery pack.In terms of cost, based on a battery price of $0.25 ea. for AA-cells and $0.75 ea.for D-cells: ONE change of batteries lasting 425+ hours in my product willcost: $20.25 including the FREE Z-1 which you may not need. ($19.50 without Z-1)Versus SIX changes of batteries in the other products for the SAME HOURS COSTINGMORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH AT: $45.00!And THEN, with my product, as 425 hours are used up and the D-cells are depleted -You can get ADDITIONAL TIME by simply replacing the D-cells at a cost ofONLY $4.50!WARRANTY - This item is warranted against defects for FIVE YEARS and customersatisfaction is 100% guaranteed or your money back!SHIPPING - Shipping & Handling is FREE!BATTERIES - Are not included. And some great battery prices can be found onlinewith a simple keyword search at your favorite search engine. Some online storesfeature zinc/carbon AA-cells for as little as $0.10 each! and alkaline AA-cellsfor $0.20 each!PRODUCT IMAGES - Battery holder fabrication materials, including plastic battery holders and trays, may vary in color.NOTICE - This experimental product is intended for use by serious radio collectorswho are familiar with vacuum tube circuits and the associated voltagesinvolved. Be aware that the output connector and internal terminals on this battery pack carries apotential of at least 90 volts when the batteries are installed therefore all proper electrical safety precautions shall be observed.QUESTIONS - Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.DIMENSIONS - 11.5"W X 2.5"H X 4.75"DThis battery pack is very simple, reliable and LIGHTWEIGHT! Only 13 ounces empty! The total weight WITH batteries is only 5.5 pounds. As compared to suchthings as: inverters, converters, lead/acid batteries, chargers, power supplies, etc.

Still not sold? Then consider this: If a Trans-Oceanic owner's manualsells for $25 and a dead T-O battery sells for $50.00 or a non-functional T-Oradio sells for around $75.00 and a really high end, mint condition T-O with a topgrain leather case brought over $2,000.00? (back when they were in higher demand and people had more money) Then what is the battery packworth? Is it worth the cost of ONE MEAL for the extended family at a goodrestaurant? :)This product has been in production for years and is very well tested. It hasreceived nothing but positive response at My sales. Please feel free to view the response on this product by clicking HERE where you can view customer comments.I have been Designing and Engineering such products, in the Private, ever since I was a kid. And, as such a PrivateDesigner, Engineer, and Contractor; I do stand by my Offer! If there are anyproblems whatsoever? I will solve them! You may count on it! :)And, in fact, there has only been two warranty claims over a ten year period.
One was simply a loose rivet on a battery holder from the manufacturer. The other was actually due to a radio defect.(His radio had a short circuit which damaged the battery pack (battery pack protected radio by way of over-heated plastic holders deforming and breaking the connection) and new holders where sold to him at cost.)This battery pack is an experimental device intended for radio builders, collector's and experimenter's and is basically built to 1950's standards.
It does produce at least 90 volts at both the output terminal as well as terminals on the battery holders themselves therefore common sense and electrical safety precautions are advised.Manufacturer-seller is not responsible or liable for the free will actions of another including a lack of personal responsibility.

On 9/6/15 somebody wrote and asked-Dear scorchgd,
Can I install your battery's innards into a reproduction Zenith box made by ed's antique radios? Does the offset plug match yours? My answer-
The offset plug is a standard built for the Zenith TO but position may be an issue and I doubt this larger capacity battery pack will actually fit inside a lesser capacity battery box.I do not know if Ed actually has legal license to be receiving profits and gains from the Zenith brand name owned by the LG corporation of south Korea. And, if not; he is likely trespassing on the corporate claim to the name as well as causing legal liability issues for said corporation as well as others who's names he is using including but not limited to: RCA, Eveready, Ray-O-Vac and Hallicrafters. All of which may be unaware of his activities, profits and gains from their names...If authenticity is desirable; here is what I might personally do per my right of privacy: It would be relatively easy to simply find the brand and style logo artwork on the internet and merely use my own desktop publishing to create and print my own custom over-lay that could be placed over the face of my battery pack. I could do this per my lawful right of privacy and private contract including display on personal web sites and at radio shows without concern over fit, copyright or legal license for a profit and gain from the brand name.Kindest regards;Scorch.
