Herewe have one of Philco‘s most desirable table radios. A Stunning 1937 model37-610 Big Bullet. This is the early version of this famed radio noted by theMacassar Ebony inlays which could not be obtained on future models. The radiofeatures a stunning streamlined designed ‘bullet’ cabinet, backlit dial, elegant inlays, and great performance on the AM broadcast and shortwave bands.

Cabinet:The \'bullet’ designed cabinet is simply stunningwith a gorgeous American walnut finish and nice wood grain flowing throughoutthe entire set. Beautiful dark walnut tones add depth and elegance. Two MacassarEbony inlays run across the right front of the cabinet and a large Art Decogrill is positioned to the left. This highly desirable set is sure to be thetopic of conversation no matter which room in the home or office you choose todisplay it in.

Dial/Knobs:The shadow meter dial is one of Philco’s finest. Thedial pointer itself glows a bright orange in accordance to what band/stationyou are on. The entire dial then moves when tuning stations while the orangelighted pointer stays stationary. Very modern for the time! All numbers andletters representing station frequencies are legible and show little signs ofwear. Take note of the words ‘Music, News, Drama, Comedy, Sports, and Education’inscribed on the top of the dial! All four bakelite knobs are in excellentcondition and work as they should; Tuning - which features an inset fine tuningknob for precision tuning, On/off & tone, band switch, and volume.
Grill Cloth: The 1930’s stylegrill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a yellow gold color with aminiature square design. This grill cloth can also be purchased separately onour other sales.
Electronics/Chassis: All tubes in the5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. With the included copper line antenna the radio performsvery well. I\'m able pick up many stations across the AM broadcast band nice tone and good volume. I\'m also able to pick up several shortwave stations, especially at night.

The Cabinet’s Finish & Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo avigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of thewood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this byremoving all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinetwith fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishesare filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any fillerapplied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beautyof the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand.We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied inthe same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. Weuse a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLPturbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer isvery thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep intothe grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coatalong with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours ofwork are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is abeautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radiosare a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as wellas listen to, in any room of the home or office.
