Hard to find original Mason cast iron mechanical bank made by Shepard Hardware in Buffalo , N.Y. cir. 1887.To operate , place a coin into the hod or shovel.Press the lever on the side and he dumps the coin into the bank.At the same time , the brick layer lifts a brick and his trough .There are no cracks or damage to any of the cast iron and has much of its nice original paint .Has its locking coin door w/ key.It is a original example of an early American toy.The bank works well.The bottom is cast \" EXCELSIOR SERIES PATD.
