Description: Offered is a seldom seen PRR cast iron steam locomotive nose plate. Locomotive No. 241 was of the L1 class, built by the Juniata shops, construction no. 3226. The locomotive was built April of 1917 and sold for scrap in August of 1948. The rondel itself measures 17 inches in diameter and weighs an estimated 30 lbs. The height of the three-digit numbers is 4-3/8 inches per number. Casting numbers are 201445 (top) and X10010 (bottom). The three mounting posts measure an estimated 4 inches high, and the tops were burnt off during removal from the locomotive. The burnt-out bolts in the posts have been removed, and the threads have been chased, leaving the rondel ready for mounting if so desired. This item is all original, but has been sandblasted, primed, and painted in the correct colors, making it ready for display! This sign is from an older gentleman who has collected PRR for over 40 years and is thinning his collection--don\'t miss out on this opportunity to own a part of PRR history reluctantly parted with!
