Original WW2 Identified US Army Red Ball Express African American Uniform Group For Sale

I\'ve been collecting for over forty years and I\'ve reached the point where I have to downsize. It\'s either that or buy a bigger house and that\'s not in the works. I will be listing several original ww2 uniform groups over the next few weeks - as I get time to list them. It\'s difficult to give these up but like I say, I\'ve reached a saturation point. It\'s particularly tough to give up the Aussie jacket groups - took me many, many years to acquire these and they make a collection in and of themselves. Please look at the photos carefully and feel free to ask questions. Some of the groups are ID\'d and some are not. Those that are have some research paper work that will be included (I researched all my ID\'d groups over the years).

Offered here is a original identified WW2 US Army Red Ball Express (African American) enlisted uniform group. This is something you don\'t come across too often, if at all. Everything is just as I got it. This is a fantastic group and came from WW2 veteran Preston Greene. The research documents will be included in the group. The photos really tell the whole story, please look at them carefully. All of these items have been issued and worn. The group consists of the following items:

(1) Ike Style uniform jacket with a beautifully embroidered British made SHEAF patch sewn on the left sleeve. The other sleeve has a Combined Operations patch. Besides the overseas bars there is a MUC patch on the right sleeve with a theater made Red Ball Express patch above it. The branch insignia areclip back Transportation and there are two pin back SHEAF pins on each epaulet. There are also two pin back transportation DI\'s on the lapels. Theshooting badgehas a \"Driver\"bar.The ribbon bar is a theater made silk embroidered bar. The jacket shows some wear from use but is in very good condition. The jacket is labeled as a size 38L.

(2) Army wool shirt with a beautiful silk embroidered theater made patch on the left sleeve and a combined ops patch on the right. The shirt is marked but the tag is washed out. There is no tag that I can find denoting the size but I would guess it is a medium to medium-large. The shirt includes a khaki wool tie.

(3) WW2 mustard brown wool Army trousers. The trousers are dated 1944 and marked as size W34XL31 and dated 1942. There is no moth damage or soiling that I can see.

(4) Wool overseas caps (2) withred/yellowtransportation piping.One is dated 1942 and is size 7 1/8. The other cap is 1943 dated and also 7 1/8. Both caps have a pin back SHEAFinsignia attached.

(5) Photograph of Mr. Greene which came with the group. It was mounted in an oval wood frame but it fell apart but the photo and glass dome for the frame are in excellent shape. These items came out of an estate sale in Hanford, California.

This is an exceptional documented group that is seldom seen at a low opening offer.
