Pioneer SX-1280 Receiver- SURVIVOR- Works but AS-IS for parts or repair:
$525.00

Pioneer SX-1280 Stereo Receiver as shown. 185 WPC per channel monster from the late \'70s \"receiver wars.\" I rescued this one after a shipping accident of some kind about 12 or so years ago. The front glass was shattered, it was missing most of its knobs and switch covers, and the antenna was broken, but it powered right up and worked! I\'ve had it in a cabinet since then and most of the damage is not visible except upon very close inspection. It\'s fully working. I used the knobs, switch ends, and antenna from an SX-780 as replacements because they\'re identical. The tuning and volume knobs are original. The dial glass was replaced with clear acrylic. There is one broken fin on the right side and two broken fins on the left side-- see the pictures. I filed the sharp edges smooth and painted the fins so the damage wasn\'t so obvious. It has great sound but if I recall right, the DC offset values were a little high when I tested them. There is a pretty large scratch on the top of the wood cabinet, but it\'s not terribly obvious. Some dings on the corners as shown. the front of faceplate itself is actually in very good condition, but there are some scratches along the top edge. One side of the split shaft of the furthest most left bass control is broken. I glued the two halves together and it holds the knob but it\'s a bit loose. One set of tape jacks is pushed in slightly on the back. I\'ve cleaned the controls with contact cleaner a few times over the years, but the balance control is a little scratchy again and could stand to be cleaned. The FM function light was burned out and the replacement I had is slightly dimmer, but it works. Not sure if the stereo light works because I have lousy reception where I live. This would be a great receiver to fully restore, or to use to restore another SX-1280, or it would be a cheap way to get a fully working classic \"monster\" receiver!! NO OVERSEAS SHIPPING ON THIS ONE! IT WILL WEIGH 80 LBS. FULLY (AND CAREFULLY) PACKED.

On Nov-12-14 at 21:50:43 PST, seller added the following information:

I removed the bottom panel and sprayed the balance control with contact cleaner and there\'s no static in it now. The other controls are static-free at this time so it sounds great!
