I have contacted The Buffet Co. and was told that this clarinet is a Pre - R13 Buffet Clarinet. Known asthe \" FRENCH BUFFET \" model. The serial # 42833 places it to have been manufactured in late 1950 / early 1951. The R13 model number was first used around 1955. I was told that this was the model that became the R13.
This clarinet was owned by Peter Larson . He was the principal clarinetist foreither the Minnesota or the Wisconsin Symphony. ( Don\'t really remember which one my dad told me.) My dad picked it up in ashop in NorthDakota.
This clarinet is in very good condition . There are no signs of ever having any cracks. There was a chip in the center tenon (see pics.). That Ifilledand reshaped (see pics.). Theclarinet has been taken apart/cleaned and all the pads have been replaced. The corks/springs are in good shape. Comes with a Vandorn 2RV mouthpiece .
The case is very solid inside and out with working latches . The casecover is in good shape for its age ( the zipper on one sidehas come unsewn ). The zippers are in good shape.
This is a \" sale\" . The high buyer WILL be getting a very nice clarinet .
