Rare, Excellent, All-Original 1903 Columbia AQ Trivet-Base Cylinder Phonograph :
$501.00

Make sure to check out all of my sales after you look at this one. I\'m listing another excellent assortment of mechanical, technological and musical antiques, and I suspect there will be something of interest to just about everyone.Here\'s an excellent 115 year-old Columbia AQ phonograph with a trivet style base, its original cone horn and its original AQ reproducer. The phonograph is in good working condition (a remarkable attribute for an AQ, as most of them don\'t work at all), and it can still play through an entire cylinder with a single winding. As you can see in the pictures, condition is excellent throughout. Except for the leather drive belt, which I replaced to keep the mandrel from slipping, the phonograph is original throughout, with original enamel, original gold decorations, original horn and combination carriage/half-nut, original horn cradle, etc. Even the reproducer\'s mica and stylus are original to the machine. Please note in addition to retaining its original enamel and original gold stripe, the horn has dents, no rust, no issues -- another remarkable attribute for an AQ.As noted above, the machine is complete and still plays well, which is certainly not the norm for an AQ. These $3 phonographs were the least expensive American machines on the market in 1903, and most of them -- missing parts or no longer operable -- were discarded as broken toys after just a few months; thus their rarity today. You will be hard pressed to find an original AQ that looks or plays better than this one does.I will pack the phonograph properly and make sure it arrives safely. I\'ve been selling and shipping antique phonographs, antique radios and antique scientific apparatus for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique phonograph from me, you\'ll receive a phonograph that arrives unharmed because it\'s been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn\'t know a phonograph from a farm tool), and you\'ll receive a phonograph that includes thorough but easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions, so you won\'t be left scratching your head, trying to figure out how it works. Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your \"bargain\" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you\'ll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.That\'s about it. buyers with no prior response, and buyers with hidden response, should contact me before placing a offer. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Paypal okay.
