Hi. To start, my father was a guy named Dave Butler and he was a well known animation historian and film collector. He started collected cartoons on film inthe early 1960\'s and kept it up until he died in 2014. He mainly was into earlier Warner Bros. cartoons, but collected just about everything. I\'ve finally been able tostart goingthru themany cartoons inhis personalcollection and I\'m going tobe listing them allhere on over the next few months.
This one is a 1942George Pal directed16mm \'Puppetoon\'called \'Jasper & the Watermelons\'which may have also featuredthe work of a young Ray Harryhausen(from what I\'ve read).Very racy stuff in thispuppetoon considering the somewhat innocent nature of it.
I had listed this same cartoon with a high starting offer and I decided to relist it with no starting offer or reserve. So, here\'s your chance to get a great print of it to add to your collection.
Storyline from IMDB : Jasper\'s desire for a ripe, red watermelon leads him to fabulous Watermelonland where he meets adventures that lessen his desire for watermelon and increases his wish to be back in the security of his Mammy\'s arms.
Film appears to be ingreat condition with leader andmain titles opening/closing .I don\'t see any splices(however they may be present, but like I said, I don\'t see any). Color looks great. At the moment I\'m not able to review these films, however he usually only had good prints in his collection. For this reason, it is being sold as is. See photos for the color, etc. No odor.
