RARE 18\" COMPOSITION SHIRLEY TEMPLE MAKEUP HEIDI DOLL WITH PROVENANCE:
$460.99

I am relisting this doll, as the buyer didn\'t understand that I left the doll and outfitas found, other than the fact I cleaned the doll, and added the boots, apron & hat.

This isan 18\" rare 1937 makeup composition Shirley Temple doll. Marked \"18 SHIRLEY TEMPLE Cop Ideal N&T Co\" on back of head and \"SHIRLEY TEMPLE 18\" on back of torso. After cleaning this doll, I noticed that the dollis basically good, and, other than the face being great with hardly any crazing, rest of doll has a lot of flaws &paint wear and probably needs to be restored and/or repainted, unless you want to keep it as found, which still looks good when dressed! Nice originally painted facial features & good sable lashes! Eyes have darkened, pupils enhanced. Original eye shadow above eyes. Doll has been cleaned, restrung and can stand alone. (Not recommended!) Great golden blonde mohair wig in the original pincurls (Ideal used pincurls on the later rare makeup dolls, which were supposed to be an older version of Shirley! Doll is rare, due to not many being made! Wig may end up flattened, due to shipping, but can easily be refluffed!)

Very unique provenance to this doll, as, according to the 2 index cards left with this doll, thedress is made from material used in the 1937 Heidi movie! (See pictures of the 2 cards of 1937, explaining this! Cards will be included! I don\'t knowmuch about the provenance. Back77 years ago, a lot of this type of workmanship was done at home, not in a factory. The lady, a Mrs. G.Willis from Sunland, California, which is about a half hour from Hollywood, California, apparently made outfits for Shirley Temple andShirley must have given this lady materialfrom the Heidi movie, and may have also given her the doll, which is explained on the index cards. Also,a taped number 261 was on the doll\'s thigh, which I took off when cleaning the doll and placed it on the card with the#261 written on it, figuring it must have some signifance. As to the material for the dress actually appearing in the Heidi movie, I don\'t know! This is all I know about this provenance, and/or whether or not Shirley Temple gave the doll to this lady as well! You can read the cards and decide for yourself! Apparently, the lady felt it important enough to keep the cardswith the doll!

Doll has a great original & unusual onesie (see pics!) Socks are original and have some sewed places on one sock. Leather red boots are added, as is the expensive Heidi lace hat. And the apron is added, using vintage material & lace, plus the tiny aqua rickrack that came loose with the dress!

I was so impressed with the provenance of this doll, I could not resist getting her to clean her up, restring her and add the few things I felt would give her more glory! Just love this whole idea ofgetting these Shirleysback to whatthey once were, without repaint, and trying to keep them as original as possible! Hate to sell her, but I just don\'t have the room from downsizing! So, this is your chance to own a great piece of American history!

There is so much to say about this wonderful doll! I want to add that the entire dresswas completely hand-sewn with very tiny stitches! Even all the rickrack was sewn onwith tiny, tiny stitches! What a seamstress this was! As this was 77 years ago, the lady is probably dead by now! I am so glad she left some of the original rickrack loose, as it gave me a chance to make the apron with this original trim! The dress is in good condition, but does have some ageing stains, mostly on the sleeves. I didn\'t want to wash or clean the dress due to the history! I will leave that up to the buyer! The dress is not embroidered but is printed cotton and, other than the sleeves, is in nice condition with no rips that I could find.

(Little Heidi doll not part of sale ~ just for prop!)
