Rare 1906-09 Emerson Type 1510, 12” Brass Blades & Cage Electric Fan, Nice:
$470.00

This is an extremely nice antique, rare Emerson oscillating electric fan, Type 1510, with 12” brass blades and 13” brass cage. Stands 17-1/2” tall. I researched the date and found it to be made between the years of 1906-09. Everything is original, and looks to be intact in pretty nice condition (except for the crumbled cord and a missing Emerson logo button that fits in the center of the cage) with a very early serial number of 108868. The outstanding black cast iron base is a work of art in itself, with an attractive close-ribbed design all the way up to the wishbone. The ceramic switch is intact and has 2 speeds and is labeled “off”, “2”, then “1”, looks like it goes to the high speed first. The switch moves easily. Nothing seems to be stuck on this fan! The motor sets in a sturdy yoke and easily moves up or down up or down by loosening the very large, beautiful brass wing nuts, which also turn easily, on the yoke. The four brass blades are tightly fastened, in great shape, no bends, some discoloration on the brass, I haven’t tried to clean them. They measure 5-3/4” x 4” wide at the widest point, and only one of them has incised on the blade in an oval: “The Parker Fan Blade”, you have to look very close to find it! The brass cage is in fantastic shape, very sturdy, NO bends or broken joints, just needs polishing and a brass logo circle for the center. The motor housing is in beautiful condition, the original oiler cap is even still intact. And the brass label across the top reads easily: “Emerson, Pat. in Foreign Countries, The Emerson Electric Mfg. Co., New York, St. Louis, “No. 108868, Volts 104, Cycles 60, Type No. 1510, Watts 60, Speed (blank).” On the front face of the motor housing, still in raised gold letters reads: “Emerson Induction Motor.” There is barely any paint loss to the entire black body. Being in such rare great condition, all this fan seems to need is new wiring, the original cord is still attached to the fan. I will let someone with more knowledge than I rewire this beautiful piece. This factory original fan would be a very nice collectible or display item even if it was not rewired. And even better if is was!

The fan weighs a hefty 18 pounds.

The motor housing will be removed from the yoke to prevent damage during shipment. Check my response and offer with confidence.
