Inventedaround 1756 by a Benjamin Martin (1704 - 1782) who believed that other spectacles in use hurt the eyes by letting in too much sunlight......that\'s the reason for thecircular pieces of horn that surround the lenses, decreasing the amount of exposure to the sun. They are made of STEEL with rings of HORNsurrounding the GLASS lenses. They have a C BRIDGE. There is a piece of horn broken away in the right lens (see 4th photo). Please include $6.85 for S&H.
