This is a very rare example of a Carpenter's Coggeshall 2 foot 4 fold rule, made by Dring and Fage of London.

Dring and Fage are far batter known for their specialist rules made for the alcohol industry - so finding a Dring and Fage Coggeshall is rare enough. Finding a bone slide Coggeshall in superb condition is many times rarer.

This is in truely superb condition, with very few signs of wear or use from its considerable age. Bone slides were only used for a short period of time in rule development, due to their brittle nature, and this one is in perfect condition -no chips or cracks at all.

Apart fron the bone slide, the rule carries a multitude of other features - Girt Line scale, DLSD table that extends the full length of one fold, 6 proportioning scales, side sclaes of decimals, edge-plated joints, German Silver scale-marked arch joint - the list goes on. The rule carries the Imperial Gallon mark - meaning that it dates to after 1824, although the early style of digits on this rule points to not very far past this date.

Slide and joints move perfectly, all holding pins, zero damage. A wonderful addition to any collection.
