During the golden age of cine film the Super 8 camerawas incredibly popular. Braun encompassed all that was good about the format and gave the world theNizo range. Used by amateur film makers as well as families recording memories, the Nizo became incredibly popular for its rugged durability and ease of use.
The Super 8 format is still popular today as it offers an unmistakable style and is the perfect way to learn about the art of filming. The Nizo isn`t fitted with modernmetering systems and auto-focus so requires the operator to create the atmosphere and stay in touch with the subject, learning subtle methods and techniques along the way giving both experience as well as immense satisfaction.
As can be seen from the images, this camera is clean with no scratches, dents or blemishes to the outer casings. This definitely gives the impression it has seen very little use. The lens is a Schneider Kreuznach1.4/7-80 and is fitted with a Hoya Skylight filter which has protected the lens glass.
Due to a lack of film to run through we have been unable to test full functionality of the camera. When batteries are inserted the motor turns and viewfinder lights, however the spindle is juttery indicating either a slipping belt or the need for some lubricant. Not being experts in these matters we did not want to cause any further issues with fumbling and bodging to try and fix things!
There are two parts missing on the camera, the eye-cup and the rubber boot on the shoulder support.
